Growing into my nose

Sounds a little weird doesn’t it? I thought that at first, but then I discovered how that one little statement means so much to me.

I used to think my nose was way to big for my face. It wasn’t shapely; it felt like a huge bump that cast an enormous shadow on my cheeks.
I decided that I would just put more mascara on to take the attention away from it.

Then, during one regular day of getting ready in front of the mirror, I was finishing up my morning routine, started to turn away, and whirled back to take a second look.

I realized that my nose looked… better! I hadn't even noticed the change until that moment!
It looked like it fit, and was mean to be there to compliment my face.

I always felt like after I was done school that everything should "click" into place..  everything I did should have lead up to something. I grew into my nose, right? All should make sense, and nothing would change anymore.

Noses, ears, and other body parts are always growing. I grew into my nose- but I have come to realize that it, like everything else in my life, keeps growing and changing no matter how old, experienced, educated, or knowledgeable I am.

Just like every piece of writing* has to be edited, and re-edited, like every photograph could use just one more touch-up, everything is always changing into something better than its predecessor.

What I now know is that learning, change and growth are moving targets - and  I constantly have to remind myself this to survive in this life, and maybe even thrive.
